Illinois International refers to the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies, its functions, and its reporting units. We are dedicated to supporting campus internationalization through our administrative, academic, and programmatic services and initiatives.
Vice Provost for International Affairs & Global Strategies
Professor Reitumetse Obakeng Mabokela
The Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies reports to the Provost and serves as the senior international officer for the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The Vice Provost also has administrative oversight over the following functions and units.
Functions of the Office of the Vice Provost
The Administrative team oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs and Global Strategies. The Associate Provost for Illinois International oversees all units.
The Global Communication team provides expertise and services in the field of marketing and communications, including: branding, public relations, speech writing, journalism, graphic design, social media, outreach, and web management.
International Business Operations
The International Business Operations team provides human resource, grant, and financial administrative services to the units of Illinois International.
Global Education & Training
Global Education and Training (GET) prepares today’s global workforce by providing transformative customized executive training programs, professional capacity building opportunities, and academic certificate programs. Learn more about GET.
The Global Relations team facilitates inter-institutional agreements and partnerships between Illinois and other universities, governmental agencies, organizations, and private sector corporations. These agreements create an environment where innovative knowledge, research, education, faculty, and students move freely across geopolitical, cultural, disciplinary, and/or academic borders. Illinois Abroad & Global Exchange
Illinois Abroad and Global Exchange (IAGE) provides exceptional study abroad experiences through academically and professionally integrated pathways for Illinois students, faculty, and staff. Learn more about IAGE.
Intensive English Institute
The Intensive English Institute (IEI) helps international students improve their English language proficiency through a diverse set of courses tailored to meet the students' language and professional-training needs. International Safety & Security
International Safety and Security monitors world events, responds to student, faculty, and staff incidents abroad on a 24/7 basis, and increases the quality of and access to pre-departure training for Illinois students, faculty, and staff traveling internationally. International Student & Scholar Services
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) serves the University's international community and campus units through advising, immigration services, programming, advocacy, and outreach. Learn more about ISSS.
