Internationally-Themed Event Grant
Illinois International awards grants the Internationally-Themed Event Grant to faculty and staff to support events with an international theme.
The Internationally-Themed Event Grant is available to support programs held in Urbana-Champaign that have an overall international theme. Such events may include cultural programs and activities, conferences, symposia, and educational outreach events geared towards students and/or the community. Funding amounts for these programmatic events depend on the nature and scope of the activity, but will not exceed $1,000. The original source of these funds is an endowment initiated by a grant from the Hewlett Foundation that was matched by private donations and University funds.
University of Illinois faculty and staff may apply for these grants on behalf of their unit or department; however, the grant is not open to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) or other student groups. Departments and units can only apply once annually (July 1 – June 30) per event type or series, and must demonstrate how the event serves Illinois International’s mission of fostering an environment of exceptional education and research with global impact, where international perspectives are integral to our institutional culture. Open houses and receptions are not eligible for grant funding. Recipients of this grant must include formal acknowledgement of Illinois International sponsorship on materials and communications about the event.
How to Apply
Grant applications are accepted on an ongoing basis but must be received at least six weeks prior (but no longer than one year prior) to the event taking place in order to be considered. A decision will be sent within 10 business days of application submission. Questions about the grant or the application process may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or at (217) 333-6104.
