Illinois International Advisory Committee

The Illinois International Advisory Committee (IIAC) plays a critical role in the development of the campus strategy for globalization. This committee advises the Associate Chancellor and Vice Provost for Global Affairs & Strategies on a range of international issues.

The committee meets twice per semester to provide updates and to confer on critical developments as the process unfolds. Sub-committees meet more often to deliberate on assignments specific their respective teams. The committee provides periodic updates as the strategic planning process unfolds, which will be available on this page.

2016-2017 Committee

The 2016-2017 academic year Illinois International Advisory Committee charge was as follows:

  • Develop and implement an inclusive and consultative process to engage and garner input from key campus stakeholders regarding the campus globalization strategy.
  • Collaborate actively with the Associate Provost and Vice Provost for International Affairs & Global Strategies to identify institutional priorities that will inform the development of the campus globalization strategy.
  • Draft the globalization strategy and provide a copy to the Associate Provost and Vice Provost for International Affairs & Global Strategies by mid-Spring 2017 semester, which will be vetted by appropriate campus stakeholders during the remainder of the Spring 2017 term.
  • Provide a final draft of the globalization strategy to the Associate Provost and Vice Provost for International Affairs & Global Strategies by early Summer 2017, which will be submitted to the Provost and Chancellor.
  • Advise the Associate Provost and Vice Provost for International Affairs & Global Strategies on a range of international issues across campus.

Outcomes

The meetings undertaken by the 2016-2017 Illinois International Advisory Committee and its associated sub-committees yielded a comprehensive set of recommendations to improve Illinois' globalization strategy. View the recommendations.

The recommendations were submitted to the university's senior administration to be used in the development of the strategic plan: "The Next 150." The strategic plan is available online at strategicplan.illinois.edu.
