Academic Bridge Program

We recognize that it may be challenging for some international students to travel to Urbana-Champaign due to ongoing travel restrictions and visa processing delays. The Academic Bridge Program was developed to provide international students with a residential experience in their home country and access to educational facilities and services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Acceptance into the Academic Bridge Program is not guaranteed and space is limited. Priority will be given to first-year, first semester students and transfer students however, we will try to accommodate as many students as possible. In the interim, we would encourage you to stay in your current schedule, while ensuring that you are enrolled in the online sections of your course options.

Learn More & Apply

During the Fall 2021 semester, we are only able to offer one Academic Bridge Program location at Zhejiang University in Haining, China. When participating in the program, you will remain registered full-time and enrolled as an Illinois student. You will still have access to Illinois academic and student affairs resources to actively support you throughout the semester. It is intended that students should be able to continue their Illinois education in Champaign-Urbana for the Spring 2022 semester.
