The Office of International Safety and Security sets and maintains the standards and protocol for pre-departure training and on-going safety needs for those participating in international activities with the University on a 24/7 basis.
Associate Director for International Safety and Security

Andrew joined Illinois International as the Associate Director for International Safety and Security in 2017. He develops and coordinates policies and procedures that support the safety and well-being of Illinois students, faculty, and staff traveling abroad for study or university business. Andrew also provides global emergency response services to travelers. Before working for Illinois International, Andrew served in the U.S. Army as a political-military specialist on Africa. He holds an M.A. in African Studies from Ohio University and a B.S. in International Relations from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York.
Coordinator for International Safety and Security

Erin has been serving as the Coordinator for International Safety and Security since June 2016. She has extensive FEMA training focusing on emergency preparedness and response for natural and manmade disaster, the science of natural disaster, Incident Command Structure, and Crisis Communication. Prior to joining the Illinois International, Erin interned in Boston University’s Global Programs Safety and Security division. Erin’s experience abroad includes time in Arusha, Tanzania working with a non-profit called Green Hope Orphanage, and in Panahachel, Guatemala working with a traditional medicine and fair labor NGO called Mayan Traditions. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.Sc. in Emergency Medicine, and a certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. She is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in Healthcare Emergency Management from Boston University.
